Boys,Boys,Boys & BackPacks

Now it’s absolutely true that men have less to work with in terms of fashionable availabilities than women.
While we have an unmeasurable list of accessories to pile on each morning, men are limited quite often to a ring and a watch.  And of course a bag, a scarf, a necklace are at his disposal – but the styles in which he can choose from are on the minimal side in comparison to feminine options.

This season however, a new bag can be added to menswear!  One that is slightly playful and draws on the youthful school days of stubbing toes, chasing girls and throwing stones at the neighbors cat – THE BACKPACK!

As unisex accessory, it is not limited to the male wardrobe, however, males can be seen this season wearing the backpack in a manner that almost claims this trending item as their own!

Taking on a very street-chic appeal, it’s paired mostly with grungier looks – denim shirts, leather jackets, woolen sports blazers and most consistently, skinny jeans.  The back-pack is absolutely not suited to the suit-wearing, traditional banker (as is so prominent in Hong Kong!) but instead to the more artistically inclined individual who’s work apparel take on a more creative stance.  OR, it’s simply best worn in the weekend with an over-sized scarf and a beanie to add to it’s casual flavor.

As for the Back Pack itself – Men, look for boxier versions made from leather or with leather detailing to hike it up and away from a school-kids pick.  Think buckling should replace zips, or if zips are present, simply make sure they aren’t the focus.
