By now you would have see the four of us #LaykhLadies sporting our bespoke handbags – bags that were DESIGNED FOR US by the talented Kashish Hemnani of LAYKH.

Now THIS is how the #LaykhLadies project kicked off – with a series of questions …

1) Slouchy vs. Structured?

2) Shoulder Bag vs. Tote vs. Messenger vs. Clutch?

4) Round vs. Square vs. Rectangular vs. A-Line shape ?

6) Gold vs. Silver vs. Gunmetal vs. Antique Brass…

All of which when answered, gave exotic leather handbag designer, Kashish Hemnani, the fuel she needed to create a stunning series of handbags, representing the personal styles of myself, Photographer and SASSY contributor Sabrina Sikora, Blogger and Fashion Designer Christing Chang and Fashion e-mag Editor Cindie Chan.

Jasmine Smith - Laykh SS15-2

Hong Kong is home base to all four of us, but growing up abroad has shaped our styles in a way that gives us each a unique standpoint.

While I love everything to have a pinch of sophisticated rock, Sabrina has a bright, pattern centric and whimsical approach to her wardrobe (not to mention a serious obsession with accessorising!).  Christing Chang is ever the bohemian chic that sits on the edge of glam and Cindie Chan is a Hong Kong classic fashionista who always adds a youthful twist to her ensembles.

Or as Kashish sums us up…

“These lovely Laykh ladies come from all walks of life and all call Hong Kong their home.  With their different fashion philosophies, these contrasts all happily co-exist in this lovable, chaotic compact town – now THAT is VERY Hong Kong!”

And so, the LAYKH LADIES were chosen to be contributing factors to this seasons ‘Contrasting Compacts’ collection.

With exotic leathers, Kashish highlighted our individuality – but also our uniformed need for stylish yet hugely functional handbags.

Sabrina opted for a sleek white ostrich backpack, Christing chose a warm python skin for her BoHo bucket bag, I went for contrasting textures with a mix of matte black ostrich & python, while Cindie chose a delicate snakeskin for her candy coloured clutch.

The S/S’15 “CONTRASTING COMPACTS” collection, in the words of Kashish “reflects Hong Kong’s fashion identity and the abundance of available fashion – a style where one can buy it all and wear it all, all at the same time!”

Now you can invest in one of the ‘Jasmine’, ‘Sabrina’, ‘Christing’, or ‘Cindie’ bags – OR you can custom create your own!
