Motherhood – bumps and beauty

I recently shot with Hong Kong photographer, Savia Chan, who’s vision was to capture Motherhood in a delicate and vintage inspired way… NOT an easy thing for a fashion stylist (as the mothers out there would know!)
Our very evidently pregnant model presented me with the constant problem of not only trying to find themed garments that would suit her softness and feminine nature, but that would also fit over the enormous (and beautiful) baby bump.

During the shoot I found that some skirts would go no further than her tummy button, others couldn’t do up around the waist.  Dresses seemed difficult to pull up from below or pull down from above – which ever angle or direction I came from, I was constantly disappointed when the hand picked apparel I was desperate to feature DIDN’T FIT!

I’m used to coat hanger models who wear literally anything you put on them with such ease and class that this new step into dressing a pregnant Mumma-to-be was very much a problematic arena of frustration and equal joy when clothing DID fit.
I can only imagine the daily wardrobe dramas most pregnant women must face!
So with that in mind, I styled with the very affordable clothes, knowing that the 9months demand an ever expanding (in size!) wardrobe that has the fleeting shelf-life of 9months.
H&M provided a stunning array of wearable, expandable and fashionable garments for our pregnant focused photo shoot.
