The perfect T-shirt – NOT an easy thing to find!
As a personal shopper, this is one of the items that I find my clients needing the most (TIP: everyone should have a basic, but well fitted T in their wardrobe – it’s an essential!)
Yet, if you feel as uncomfortable in boyfriend styled baggy T’s as I do, then you need to look a little more into the ‘luxury’ T-shirt department!
And that’s where AMERICAN VINTAGE in IFC comes in!
BTW – fair enough to assume the brand had American roots, however, this brand holds all the je ne sais quoi looks that dub it authentically Parisian!
Now this is my go-to-place for both myself and clients for two main reasons:

American Vintage excels in their ability to produce an array of options for every body shape – making sure you appear effortless in the way you wear a T-shirt!
Gone are the days of looking dowdy, scruffy or too casual – American Vintage is that perfect balance between casual and cool no matter what your shape!!
If you’re an hourglass, a rectangle, an apple or a pear (triangles also can find the right T-shirt here too!) – American Vintage have subtle differences in their classic shapes that will make ALL the difference on YOUR shape!
For example, if your a pear body shape, American Vintage have a light weight sheer cotton that is tighter over the bust and waist area yet flares off slightly over your hips, not clinging to there width, creating a more balanced look.
Staying on the ‘Variety’ theme – the other advantage they have is their colour schemes!
American Vintage understands the importance of tones and moves between the 7 colour of the rainbow with what feels like 70 shades of each – their colour schemes are awesomely equipped to compliments any skin tone!
Now one of my pet-hates is when the edges of T-shirts start to ripple and stretch longer in the outer corners, to me it just screams OLD, WORN (loved) but now SCRUFFY!
If you’re going to wear a simple T-shirt, make it a stylish one that is slick in it’s appearance!
No stretched hem-lines, no underarm stains, no discolored whites from washing with dark – keeping your Tshirt fresh is important – and the best way to do this is starting with the perfect base – QUALITY!
American Vintage ranges between $360 – $550 for cotton T-shirts, a price range that does increase with certain colours, styles and materials (keep an eye out for their silk cami’s!) which is definitely a step up from your $70 H&M cotton T-shirt.
But the quality is incomparable!
The strength of the tread, the delicateness of the cotton, the colour durability – these all make for a wardrobe essential that will last for many seasons to come.
American Vintage falls into my ‘investment buying’ category of clothing purchases, one which I absolutely recommend!
