Bikini Wax

It’s that time of the month again… No not THAT one – the other – the time for an all over waxing session!

I’m heading to my go-to-boutique, NU Waxing, which I’ve stayed loyal to for its constantly pain-free techniques, incredibly knowledgable technicians and wonderfully discrete location – and in my 4th month of being a patron to their waxing ways, I thought I’d share with you a few techniques that help the hair pulling process:

|| PREP YOUR SKIN ||

Soap

Now the age old belief is that you should exfoliate to both prevent ingrown hairs AND to remove dead-skin cells… FORGET THIS and instead concentrate on using the right soap for your skin type!

A bad soap will result in clogged pores and a waxy film over your skin (both of which cause ingrown hairs and a rough exterior).  So be nice to your skin, allow it to breath and grow naturally and ask your Beautician for her recommendation on what soap is best for your bod.

||  SELF CONFIDENCE IS KEY ||

Confident

You’re not only naked in front of a stranger, but wide legged and revealing all!  But don’t let your self-consciousness get the better of you!  It’s NOTHING this professional hasn’t seen before – and the less anxious you are, the less pain you’ll have to worry about!

||  SAY IT OUT LOUD ||

Talking

Now your lying there with your legs wide open, so at this stage, you should be no means be shy about speaking up either!If you have a low pain tolerance then let your Beautician know – knowing this, she will work to make you as comfortable as possible and create a pressure and pace to match your needs.  DON’T suffer in silence!

|| SLOWLY DOES IT ||

Bikini Wax

Step-by Step-Ladies!  Take your waxing precess step-by-step.  Don’t go full Brazilian the first time you decide to go hairless.  Instead ease into it with a normal Bikini Wax first and work your way up to that all-off look.  By the stage you get there you’ll be so used to the process that having everything waxed will be as easy as 1,2,3!

|| POST PERIOD WAXING ||

Period Pain

Whatever you do, DON’T visit a waxing boutique near or during your period – aim to hit that beauty salon in the week AFTER your period when it’s reported that your pain threshold is much higher and your extra tolerance will work in your favour!

|| CONTROL THE PAIN WIH A PILL ||

Panadol

If you’re really having difficulties with the pain issue – then ease it by taking an over-the-counter pain reliever like Panadol an hour before your appointment.

|| BREATH ||

Breathing

Naturally you’re going to want to hold your breath in anticipation of the pain – which simply creates whole body tension and results in added pain!  SO instead, concentrate on taking a deep breath in as the wax goes on, then breath out when your technician pulls it off.

|| DISTRACT YOURSELF ||

175416666

Read the latest updates on your Facebook Feed, browse a magazine, flick through Instagram or Buzz Feed – create a distraction for yourself so that your concentration is pulled away for the waxing and onto more trivial and fun aspects of life.

GOOD LUCK LADIES!
